Engineering forcommunity causes.
Every quarter, The Chimaera Company partners with one registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit to engineer a custom web platform, unlock $10,000/month in Google Search Ads, configure free staff email, and grant free Chimaera Studio design access—100% pro bono.
The $120,000 ecosystem we help you unlock.
Most charities think a website is just a brochure. We turn your domain into an institutional back-office by configuring Google, Microsoft, and Stripe’s global philanthropic programs.
Google Ad Grant ($10,000/mo)
We configure your organization for Google's official Ad Grant, driving donors and volunteers to the top of Google search results for local community queries at zero advertising cost.
Free Business Email Setup
Say goodbye to generic @gmail.com addresses. We set up professional email on your domain (Google Workspace or Microsoft 365) saving your organization $6/user/month forever.
Chimaera Studio Design Access
We grant your domain full access to Chimaera Studio. Your staff and volunteers can design event flyers, campaign graphics, social banners, and presentations without paying for Canva Pro or Adobe.
Bank-Grade Email Security
We configure strict DNS authentication so your emails, donor receipts, and gala invitations never land in spam folders or fall victim to spoofing scams.
Custom Next.js Web Platform
Sub-second load times, flawless mobile responsiveness, and WCAG AA accessibility compliance. Built on Next.js 16 with zero bloated plugins or fragile WordPress updates.
Frictionless Stripe Giving
One-click Apple Pay, Google Pay, and recurring monthly donations set up at Stripe's discounted 501(c)(3) processing rates (2.2% + $0.30) with instant donor tax receipts.
Three rules that protect your project quality.
We eliminate committee drift and project stagnation by working with organizations that meet three clear commitments.
Verified 501(c)(3) Status
Applicants must be a recognized US tax-exempt charity in good standing with the IRS (or registered equivalent) with an active EIN and up-to-date filings.
The Single Sign-Off Rule
To eliminate committee gridlock, your organization must assign one primary decision-maker (Executive Director or Board Chair) with final approval authority.
Content Readiness
Core photography, mission narrative, and leadership bios must be ready during Week 1 so our 4-week build sprint stays on schedule without lingering.
From application to boardroom in 4 weeks.
A rapid, disciplined timeline that launches your platform without distracting your staff from their day-to-day mission.
Selection & Discovery
Grant recipient announced. Kickoff call, goals alignment, and content asset lock.
Design & Prototyping
Information architecture, responsive layouts, and interactive Studio preview.
Systems & Grants
Stripe checkout, Google $10k/mo Ad Grant application, email DNS authentication, and Studio access.
Board Launch & Training
Domain cutover, 10-minute presentation to your board of directors, and staff training.
Want to do it yourself? Here is the exact blueprint.
We never gatekeep community resources. If your organization has the technical capacity to apply and manage this in-house, here are the official documentation portals and the exact 5-step roadmap to unlock up to $120,000/year in search ads and free business email.
Google for Nonprofits Portal
The primary administrative dashboard to enroll your organization and unlock Google Workspace and Ad Grants.
Google Ad Grants Program Guide
Official documentation from Google explaining how the $10,000/month recurring search advertising grant operates.
TechSoup Nonprofit Verification
The authorized validation service Google uses to verify 501(c)(3) determination letters and issue validation tokens.
Google Grants Website Policy
Google's mandatory technical standards for websites: SSL/HTTPS, commercial limits, mobile responsiveness, and speed.
How to qualify and launch your Google Grant
Get Validated by TechSoup
Google does not inspect 501(c)(3) determination letters directly—they partner with TechSoup. Register your organization at TechSoup.org and upload your IRS Letter of Determination and latest 990. Once approved (usually 2–5 days), you receive a TechSoup Validation Token formatted like 123a4567@YourOrg.
Enroll in Google for Nonprofits
Go to google.com/nonprofits and click 'Get Started'. Enter your TechSoup token and organization EIN. Once Google confirms your token, your organization is immediately granted a Google for Nonprofits Administrative Console.
Activate Free Google Workspace Email
Inside the console, activate Google Workspace for Nonprofits. Connect your custom domain and configure your domain's DNS records (MX, SPF, and DKIM). This permanently unlocks up to 2,000 free business inboxes (name@yourcause.org) and 30GB cloud storage per person at $0/month.
Prepare Your Site for Google's Audit
Google crawlers inspect your site before approving ad grant funds. Your site must have an active SSL certificate (https://), zero broken navigation links, fast mobile loading, a clear explanation of your public mission, and a direct donation or volunteer mechanism.
Build a Compliant Google Ads Account
To keep the grant active, Google requires you to maintain a 5% Click-Through Rate (CTR), link Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with active conversion goals (tracking donation button clicks or form fills), use at least 2 ad groups per campaign, and avoid single-word or generic keywords.
Google Ad Grants requires a high-quality, functional website, and participating accounts must follow ongoing program policies. Our quarterly pro bono grant focuses on building a fast, accessible Next.js website and setting up relevant tracking.
Everything you need to know.
Is this truly 100% free? What are the hard costs?
Our design, engineering, and IT setup labor is 100% pro bono ($12,000 value waived). The only hard cost is your domain registration fee (typically $12–$20/year paid directly to a registrar like Cloudflare or Namecheap). All email licenses, Google search ads, and Chimaera Studio accounts are $0.
How does Google give away $10,000 every month in ads?
Google Ad Grants is a permanent, 20-year-old global philanthropy program by Google for Nonprofits. Google allocates $10,000 in monthly in-kind search advertising credit on Google.com to qualified 501(c)(3) charities that meet their website quality and conversion tracking standards.
Can our team really get free custom email addresses?
Yes. Google Workspace for Nonprofits provides up to 2,000 free inboxes, and Microsoft 365 provides up to 300 free inboxes. We configure your domain's DNS, MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records so you never pay monthly per-user email fees.
What is Chimaera Studio?
Chimaera Studio is our browser-based vector and graphic design workspace (studio.chimaeraco.dev). We grant your organization's domain access so your volunteers and staff can collaborate on event flyers, social media cards, campaign graphics, and print assets without paid third-party software.
Who owns the website, and who hosts it?
ChimaeraCo builds and hosts the site, and keeps the copyright in its code and design. While your organization is in good standing, you have a license to use the site for your mission. You keep what is yours: your name, logos, text, photos, donor and supporter data, and your domain name and provider accounts. We confirm the details in writing before work starts.
- No guarantee of approval. Google Ad Grants, Google Workspace for Nonprofits, Microsoft 365 nonprofit offers, TechSoup validation and Stripe nonprofit pricing are run by those companies, not by ChimaeraCo. Each sets its own eligibility rules and decides every application. We will make a good-faith effort to prepare your organization and website to qualify, but we cannot guarantee that any application is approved, or stays approved.
- Programs change. Dollar amounts, license counts, discounts and policies (including Google’s ongoing account requirements) can change or end at any time without notice. Figures on this page are approximate and may be out of date, so check each provider’s current terms.
- Ad Grant is not cash. It is in-kind search advertising credit that can only be spent on Google Search ads. Results, traffic and donations are not guaranteed, and the grant can be suspended if the account falls out of compliance.
- Selection and scope. The pro bono build is limited in number (currently one organization per quarter), is awarded at our discretion, and may be declined or deferred for any reason. Scope is a focused website plus the setup described above. Ongoing costs such as domain registration, any paid third-party licenses and payment processing fees remain the organization’s responsibility. Chimaera Studio access is provided as a courtesy and may be changed or withdrawn.
- Ownership, hosting and license. ChimaeraCo designs, builds and hosts the website and keeps the copyright in its code, design and any templates or components we create or reuse. While the organization remains in good standing, it receives a license to use the site for its charitable mission. The organization keeps what is its own: its name, logos and trademarks, its text and photos, its donor and supporter data, and its domain name and provider accounts. We may show the finished site in our portfolio and marketing. These terms are confirmed in writing before work starts, and the license ends if the offer is withdrawn.
- After launch. We’re always happy to hear from you. Ask us anytime to update the site, make changes, or take it down. Because we’re a small team with a lot of people to look after, we answer pro bono requests as our schedule allows, so it may take us a little longer.
- Good faith, and the right to withdraw. This offer is made in good faith and can be paused, changed or withdrawn, before or after work begins, if we find that an application or organization contains false or misleading information, is not a legitimate tax-exempt organization, misuses the program or the accounts we set up, or acts in a way that is unlawful, abusive or harmful to others or to ChimaeraCo. Anything already handed over remains subject to the providers’ own terms.
- Not legal, tax or financial advice. Eligibility depends on your organization’s status and records. Confirm questions about tax-exempt status with your own advisor.
